For Microblading, Combo Brows and Powder Brow services, please read all of the following information before booking.

Pre-Appointment. Please:

  • wear your brows the way you do daily (if you wear make-up) so your artist Jen can see what you’re used to. You may bring or email photos of brow shapes and styles you like, although not necessary.

  • We will map a brow shape outline, and when you approve, we will work within that outline. We have a progressive approach, as we can always add at your 4-6 week touch-up appointment, which we recommend you book in advance.

  • especially if you have allergies, or skin sensitivities, we recommend at least 48 hours before procedure that you receive a pigment allergy patch test. We use high quality vegan pigment manufactured in the U.S. Most clients choose to proceed without this allergy test. Immediately before procedure you can request to test for immediate reactions, although not useful to indicate delayed reactions.

  • Alcohol/caffeine consumption not recommended for 24 hours before your procedure (can act as blood thinner reducing pigment retention).

  • do not take blood thinners such as Vitamin E or A, fish oil, aspirin and ibuprofen (and all pain medications except Tylenol). Tylenol may be taken according to manufacturers’ instructions.

  • Microblading is most suitable for dry/neutral skin types, and may not retain well or as crisp in oily skin types, although it still may be performed at your discretion. Crispness and retention varies for individuals. Machine shading retains well for most skin types. We recommend you book your 4-6 week touch up appt. during which retention can be assessed and hairstrokes or machine shading added.

  • Candidates for microblading must not be pregnant or nursing, have bleeding disorders, immune disorders, or other conditions that lead to difficulties healing and implanting pigment, or have taken prescription Accutane in the last year. We work around raised scars and blemishes. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, a serious medical condition, please let us know ahead as a Doctor’s note may be required. You must be at least 18 years of age to receive permanent makeup services, although other services are available for younger clients, such as brow lamination, wax and tint.

  • For two weeks pre- & post- appointment, please avoid botox, fillers, chemical peels retinols & exfoliant products.

  • Please inform us if you have any of the following symptoms: cough, fever, sneeze, or sore throat, and we’ll reschedule. We will do the same. Jen will meet you @ High Maintenance Salon & Spa, 13012 Victoria Rd. N, within 10 minutes of your scheduled time. Masks and hand sanitizer are now required for all staff and clientele and we are able to provide them. We are open by appointment only, and are BeautySafe certified.
